Video Optimization
Learn How Video Optimization Benefits Your Site’s SEO.
As web developers, we are constantly looking to optimize our sites. The use of video content can be a great way to engage users and keep them coming back.
As demonstrated by the huge success of YouTube, users are seeking out video content:
- 8 billion videos viewed/month globally
- YouTube is projected to reach 157 million users in 2010
Web videos:
- Engage users who prefer to watch rather than read
- Create a “sticky” platform and keeps eyes on your site
- Generates an emotional pull that is more immediately impactful than strictly copy
- Provide consistent quality that promotes an image of expertise
The search engine optimization (SEO) behind video content continues to improve. While engines are not yet sophisticated enough to search video content, the use of on page factors (keywords, content, etc) improve search engine visibility.
The Video-Enabled Web Index or VIEW by VideoBloom ranks video visibility by site category (sports, entertainment, news) on a 17 variable scale. While the index is not fully finessed to review sites on an individual basis, by beginning the ranking process it does indicate the growing importance of functional video content.
Google does use Universal Search which classifies searches by category. Video results show at the top navigation of search results. Bottom line, your video content is being searched and does impact your site ranking.
At Mango, we have extensive experience implementing video content that generates results. We look at the needs of each of our clients to determine the best use of video. We are always happy to talk about the benefits of video content on your site.
